The Ausangate mountain chain, located in the Cordillera de Vilcanota, is one of the most inhospitable and extraordinary high Andean areas of Peru.
The Ausangate is the most representative mountain of the Cusco Andes. It forms a large massif with various summits that surround its main peak located at 6,372 meters above sea level. The turquoise lagoons, extensive high plains and stone forests make the area a lunar paradise totally isolated from modernity. Walking around Ausangate is an indescribable adventure, in which it is impossible not to be amazed by the beauty of the sunsets and the eternal snow. It is common to find rock needles that rise to more than five thousand meters high and also ice tongues that fall vertiginously and form glacial lagoons.
