Detailed Itinerary - CUSCO TO MACHU PICCHU (7D/6N)

Day 1:
City Tours
This itinerary offers double-time tours (09:00am-1:00pm) or (2:00pm-6:00pm) Tours begin with an introduction to the history of Cusco Enjoy a guided tour of this charming city, which was the capital of the Inca Empire. The tour begins in Coricancha, also known as 'the temple of the sun'. It was built by order of the Inca Pachacutec to worship the sun and, upon the arrival of the Spanish, it became the base for the construction of the Convent of Santo Domingo. Then, visit the Cathedral (optional), the most imposing monument in the Plaza de Armas, and head to the hills where Sacsayhuamán is, one of the most emblematic Inca buildings built in the 15th century. It is an immense fortress built with large stones, whose transfer and assembly remains a mystery. Continue to Qenqo, an archaeological complex for religious use, where rituals related to agriculture were celebrated. Finally, you will visit Puca Pucará, which means 'Red Fort', it was an architectural complex supposedly for military use, with multiple environments, squares, bathrooms, aqueducts and towers. It is believed that it was used by the Inca entourage while the leader rested in Tambomachay, which is a place where water was worshiped. After finishing the visit, we return to the city of Cusco
Day 2:
Sacred Valley Vip
  • Pick up from your hotel from 6:30 to 7:00 am. Once the entire group is complete, we will leave heading north. Our first visit will be Chinchero, a picturesque town where we can see agricultural platforms, the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui, the beautiful colonial temple built on the bases of an Inca building and we will observe the entire wool process from washing to spinning. beautiful textiles.
Continuing with our tour, we will arrive at Moray, where we will observe several natural holes that were terraces for agricultural experimentation. Then we will continue to the Salineras de Maras, where we will observe the natural process of salt extraction that has occurred since the time of the Incas. Afterwards we will head towards the Ollantaytambo archaeological park, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley. Once finished and back on the bus, we head to the town of Urubamba, where we will have our buffet lunch. After lunch we will go to the town of Pisac, where we will visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, built in the Inka Pachacuteq era. Its location is strategic, since it is located on the top of a mountain, which allows you to have a view of the entire valley that went towards Antisuyo. At the end of the tour, we will head to Ollantaytambo to take our train to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night.
Day 3:
Machupicchu
The “lost city of the Incas” is the reason why thousands of people come to Peru. Hidden among the vegetation, get closer to our past through its rooms built in communion with the landscape that surrounds them. Your visit to Machu Picchu begins with an hour and a half train ride through spectacular Andean landscapes to Aguas Calientes, departing from Ollantaytambo station. From here, you will take a 25-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu, the 'lost city of the Incas'. It is believed that the archaeological site was built around 1450 by the Inca Pachacutec. However, a century later, the city was abandoned after the Spanish conquest, saving it from the destruction that came to other Inca settlements. Instead, vegetation began to grow and slowly hid its stone constructions, protecting it. During the guided tour, learn about the origins of this impressive citadel, presenting its most notable monuments such as the main square, the royal quarters, the temple of the three windows, the circular towers, the sacred clock and the cemeteries. At the end of the tour, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 4:
Humantay Laggon
Humantay Lagoon takes its name from the snow-capped mountain nearby (Humantay, 5,473 m) and is considered one of the most beautiful and sacred lagoons in Cusco. Its turquoise waters adorned with snow-capped Salkantay (6,270 m) whisper directly to that beauty of nature. To get to Humantay Lagoon from the city of Cusco, you must travel a path of about 120 km, passing through the towns of Limatambo and Mollepata, until you reach the community of Soraypampa. Once we entered Soraypampa, we began an uphill walk of about 2 km until we reached the lagoon. Traveling and enjoying with INKAYSEL, transportation is included, a bilingual guide, as well as breakfast and lunch in the town of Mollepata.
Day 5:
South Valley
Start the tour in Tipón, perfectly preserved archaeological sites located 27 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Near the town of the same name, where an impressive rural colonial mansion stands (1650), there are 12 terraces still cultivated, some enclosures and an irrigation system considered a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering still used by the surrounding population. Next, continue to Pikillacta, considered one of the best preserved pre-Inca cities in Peru that corresponds to the Wari culture, predecessor of the Incas. Finally, visit Andahuaylillas, a town located 40 kilometers from Cusco whose main attraction is the Church of Andahuaylillas. Also called "The Sistine Chapel of America" due to the high quality of the art pieces found there, the structure was built in the 16th century on possibly Wari construction sites. From here he begins his return to Cusco.
Day 6:
Mountain 7 colors
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Then travel by tourist bus to the town of Cusipata. There you can enjoy a buffet breakfast. The journey continues to the Phulawasipata camp. There begins the 6-kilometer walk to Vinicunca, the 7-color mountain. There we can get incredible photos. The return route follows the same route. In Cusipata we stop to enjoy a buffet lunch. Finally we travel to Cusco where the tour ends.
Day 7:
7 Lagoons of Ausangate
The 7 Lagoons Tour at the foot of Nevado Ausangate is a beautiful one-day hike, where you can visit beautiful turquoise green lagoons, part of the Vilcanota mountain range and also be close to the Ausangate and Ayangate mountains. You can enjoy the relaxing hot springs with a beautiful view of the mountains and local life. In this place we will have breakfast and begin the walk, we will ascend little by little until we arrive at our first lagoon, and so on the subsequent ones. The walk lasts 5 hours round trip. During the journey we will visit the lagoons of different colors characterized by their blue, turquoise and green colors. Likewise, some of them are large and look like natural mirrors. The lagoons to visit are: Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, Q'omercocha, Orqo Otorongo and China Otorongo. Along the way, we will also spot Andean birds, alpacas, llamas, and vizcachas. After that, we will return to Pacchanta. Where we will enjoy a delicious lunch, then we will relax in the Hot Springs. After the hot springs we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving in Cusco at 7:30 p.m. to soon.
