This is Peru’s most sought-after trek for its breathtaking panoramas, vast ecological diversity, and well-preserved archeological sites. Following the ancient stone path, we traverse high mountain passes and walk through ecological areas ranging from high desert puna to Andean cloud forest and subtropical jungle. Throughout the journey, our professional guides will point out the native flora and fauna and explain important facts and legends about the magnificent Inca civilization. On the fourth day, we arrive to Machu Picchu through the Intipunku, or Sun Gate, from where we catch our first exhilarating glimpse of the archeological wonder below. At Machu Picchu, we spend ample time discovering these spectacular remains before returning to Cusco by train.

Detailed Itinerary - Inca Trail in 4 days in Private Service

Day 1:

Cusco or Sacred Valley – Huayllabamba (L, D)

6.00 a.m. or 7.00 a.m. I pick up our passengers at their hotels, to go to Chilca - Km. 82 (beginning of the Inca Trail), located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, there we will meet with the porters and cooks who will accompany us during the trip. Then we will start our walk to our first camp. On the way we will visit Llaqtapata. Total distance: 12 km. Trek time: 5 - 6 hours. Maximum altitude: 3,000 m. Camp height: 3,000 m.

Day 2:

Huayllabamba – Pacaymayu (B, L, D)

After breakfast we will begin to ascend to the Warmiwañusca pass (4,200 m.) It is the highest pass of the route. On the way we will see different ecological zones and microclimates. Our camp will be in Pacaymayu. Total distance: 11 km. Trek time: 6 - 7 horas. Maximum altitude: 4,200 m. Camp height: 3,500 m.

Day 3:

Pacaymayu – Wiñayhuayna (B, L, D)

After breakfast we will go to Runku Rakay to cross the second pass of the same name (3800 m.s.n.m.) and then descend to Sayacmarca, an important archaeological complex where we will have lunch, continuing later to the Wiñayhuayna complex where we will camp. Total distance: 16 km. Trek time: 8 horas. Maximum altitude: 3,900 m. Camp height: 2,650 m.

Day 4:

Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco (B, L)

Very early we left for the IntiPunku or Puerta del Sol, which is the entrance to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We will have a guided tour of the complex and then we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes by bus to Aguas Calientes. Total distance: 13 km. Trek time: 2 hours. Lunch in Aguas Calientes. 2.50 pm They must be at the Aguas Calientes train station. 3.20 pm – 7.05 p.m. Expedition Train Aguas Calientes – Poroy. 7.10 p.m. – 7.40 p.m. Transfer from the Poroy station to the Wanchaq station in Cusco. Transfer to your hotel in Cusco. B: Breakfast, L: Lunch, D: Dinner Important Notes:

Departure and arrival are approximate.
The camps are subject to changes according to the designation of the government institution that regulates the use of the Inca Trail, as well as at the discretion of the guide and the progress of the group.
They must review all their personal data in the Santu Tour Operator service voucher since once the entrance ticket has been purchased, no data can be modified.
During the trekking they must carry the passport or original ID. This information must match 100% with the reservation data. These measures are intended to guarantee the client that the Peruvian Authorities will not prevent him from entering. In case of rejection of the document by the authorities on the day of the Trekking, the client will not be able to demand any refund.

The student discount is valid only by sending the scanned copy of the student card with the expiration date. The student is obliged to present to the Authorities, in addition to her passport. Otherwise, she will not be able to do the trekking.

• A big backpack with: Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping.
• Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco).
• Swimsuit (if you intend to go to the hot springs in Aguas Calientes).
• Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended.
• Flashlight, camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions).
• Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold.
• Gloves, scarf, handkerchiefs.
• Sun block, after-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body.
• Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET.
• Toilet paper.
• Personal first-aid kit.
• Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc.
• Non-disposable canteen (Nalgene type) and water for the first morning. Optionally: water sterilizing tablets in case you pick up water from streams or rivers along the route. Otherwise, we provide filtered boiled water, which is safe to drink and has not reported any health problem so far.
