Day 1:
The Mountain of 7 Colors, also known as Vinicunca or Winicunca, is a very popular natural destination in Peru. The tour you described is a typical itinerary to visit this amazing mountain. Here is a detailed description of the tour:
  • Hotel pickup: The tour starts early, usually around 4:20 a.m. or 5:00 a.m., depending on the location of your hotel in Cusco. The vehicles will pick you up and take you to the south of the city.
 
  • Trip to Cusipata: The vehicle trip from Cusco to Cusipata takes approximately 2 hours. Cusipata is the starting point of the tour and is also where breakfast is served.
 
  • Observation of local fauna: During the journey, you will be able to observe llamas, alpacas and local people, giving you a glimpse of life in the communities of the region.
 
  • Start of the hike: From Phulawasipata, you will begin the hike to the Mountain of 7 Colors. This hike can take approximately 1 hour or more, depending on your pace and physical condition. At this point, you also have the option of renting a horse if you don't feel comfortable walking, as the mountain is located at an altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level.
